Where Skills, Stories, and Confidence Are Woven Together
Hi, I’m McKenzie — the heart behind Looms + Light Reading Studio.
I am a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist with a strong background in special education and years of experience as a reading interventionist supporting young readers. Over time, I’ve learned that children don’t just need instruction—they need warmth, understanding, and a space where learning feels genuinely safe.
What I Do
• Structured Literacy instruction rooted in the Science of Reading
• Dyslexia-informed, developmentally gentle, evidence-based methods
• 1:1 online. lessons designed for calm, steady growth
Who I Help
• Hesitant or struggling readers who need confidence and clarity
• Children with suspected dyslexia who need skilled, warm support
• Learners with an official dyslexia diagnosis seeking consistent, effective intervention
How It Works
1. Inquiry – A simple form + optional follow up call to understand your child’s needs
2. Assessment – A gentle, thorough placement that identifies strengths and next steps
3. Weekly 1:1 Lessons – Individualized, connected instruction built around your child
Why Families Choose Looms & Light
• A warm, artistry-rich approach that honors the child, not the clock
• Hand-drawn, aesthetic resources that support orthographic mapping and reduce guessing
• Calm, heart-centered sessions designed to build skill and confidence
• Clear parent partnership woven through every step of the journey
A Note to Parents
